If you are looking for the traditional Japanese Ryokan experience this is the right place. We had a private onsen which was nice. One can also book a private slot at the other onsen or use the shared one. The dinner that was included was very nice and special. It was a piece of art. However one has to be open minded and willing to eat a lot of things you may have not eaten before. The lady that was serving us the food was very nice. The hotel can be reached by walking 10 mins from the train station or 4 mins from the bus station. We had two nights, however we think one night is enough to have the experience.

Staying in a traditional ryokan was a treat. We really enjoyed the rooms, with tatami mats and windows overlooking beautiful greenery. The futons were really comfortable and our room had its own onsen, which was fabulous. The evening meals were extraordinary. Beautifully presented, with numerous delicious dishes. If anything there was too much food. The breakfast too was very lavish.

This place is very much worth its price. It was our only traditional ryokan experience during our 3 week Japan trip and it was very much worth the hype. We were personally greeted at check in, escorted to our rooms with a tour of all the onsen options along the way, and our luggage was carried to our room for us. The price was all worth it for the private onsen in our room! We also enjoyed the public and non-reserved private onsen available to us as well. We did not do the dinner but did do breakfast, which as a nice experience to have it served to us in our room and was overall a pretty good traditional Japanese meal. Great location with very easy walk to the Main Street but also set enough away that it was very peaceful. The view from our view overlooked the mountains and was stunning.

Everything! A truly authentic experience in a beautiful Ryokan, we were served clean and varied Japanese kaiseki by a wonderful hostess, we took a hot spring bath twice a day, both indoor and outdoor are wonderful, and we were only a 10 minute walk from Hakone Yumoto station. The area is stunning, the beds were comfy, the room was meticulously clean and the view of the mountains was breathtaking. I could stay here forever.

This was probably one of our most memorable experience in Japan as it was the most traditional. I would highly recommend staying here during your trip just to experience the dinner and breakfast courses, alone. Hakone is such a lovely town and the Ryokan is positioned right outside the bridge over a stream. So, if you open the windows at night in your room you can hear the sound of water. It’s so calming. We took the Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train) from Kyoto Station and then a cab from Odawara Station to Hakone. My family and I had two rooms. The inn is older so don’t expect a 5-star hotel appearance but the charm of the location is in its rustic aesthetics. You have to take off your shoes and all. Though there are no elevators but the staff will help you bring your suitcases upstairs. My husband and I had a room with a private onsen but they help you schedule the private onsen time upon your arrival, too. They also schedule your dinner and breakfast. The meals are beautifully set. Put on your haori jacket and kimono provided for the full experience! Checking out was very easy as well. We lugged our suitcases 6 minutes away to the Hakone-Yumoto Station, hopped on the OH red line back to Odawara Station. Overall, a lovely stay.

The room was quite spacious. We didn't realize the meals would be served IN OUR ROOM! That was so unique and pleasant. The 10 course meal was a delightful experience of traditional Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately, my friend had been sick the day before, so she couldn't eat as much as she wanted. The staff was so helpful in storing our bags before and after checkout. We loved the futons on the tatami. The hotel onsen was lovely, we went after 10pm so we could enjoy the outdoor onsen space for women.

1. The location is 1 bus stop away from the hakone yumoto station, ie 10mins walk distance. 2. Our room came with dinner and breakfast and both meals were not too bad. I enjoyed breakfast more tbh. There is a restaurant beside the Ryokan if you do not enjoy the meals or doesn't suit your taste. 3. There are public and private reserved onsen. 4. They also have a vending machine.

The stay was amazing. The food was a highlight and we had our own bath so getting to soak whenever was great! Very much a traditional ryoukan experience so do keep that in mind. Wife tried the public baths and got it to herself but was great to try them. We had two dinners and two breakfasts, was not expecting one for the morning we left so got to eat well. Again traditional so if you're not used to it, you will try out some new things, though the homemade plum wine was 10/10! Hitomi serviced us the entire time and was truly a lovely lady, others mentioned that the service was rude but not a single person there was rude to us. Would highly suggest the place, though it is rather old I think its been kept up as best as possible. Give this one a try for an honest traditional ryoukan stay.
